Winz General Terms and Definitions

These Betting Rules (the “Rules”) govern the acceptance of bets, the settlement of winnings, dispute resolution procedures, provisions relating to specific sports, and all other relations between Winz and its customers. The Rules apply to bets placed through the website, the mobile platform, and any retail betting outlets where applicable. Placing a bet constitutes acceptance of these Rules in full.

The definitions below apply throughout this document and any related policy pages.

Definitions

  • Bet: a wager placed by a customer on the outcome of an event, accepted by Winz in exchange for a potential payout based on agreed odds;
  • Outcome: the official result of an event, market, or selection, as determined by the relevant sporting body or data source used for settlement;
  • Customer: a registered account holder who has agreed to these Rules and is eligible to place bets on the platform;
  • Bet Cancellation: the voiding of a bet by Winz, resulting in the stake being returned to the customer’s account without any winnings or losses applied;
  • Regular Time: the standard scheduled duration of an event, excluding extra time, penalties, or overtime, unless stated otherwise in the specific market rules.

Customers are advised to read the Rules carefully before placing any bet, since registration and continued use of the account constitute acceptance of the terms described here.

General Terms

Winz provides betting and gaming services subject to the terms set out in this document. These General Terms outline the legal framework under which customer accounts are opened, bets are accepted, and winnings are settled.

Eligibility and Jurisdiction

Only individuals who meet the minimum legal age requirement in New Zealand, and who are otherwise allowed under local law to participate in online betting, may register an account. Each customer is responsible for confirming that use of the services is lawful in their place of residence. Winz reserves the right to restrict access from jurisdictions where online betting is prohibited.

Account Use and Bet Acceptance

A customer account is personal and cannot be transferred to another person. Bets are accepted at the sole discretion of Winz, and placing a bet does not guarantee acceptance until confirmation is issued. Winz may decline, limit, or refuse any bet without providing a reason, including where stake limits are exceeded or where a market has been suspended.

Settlement, Void Bets, and Payments

Winnings are calculated according to the odds confirmed at the time of bet placement and the official outcome of the event. Winz may declare a bet void, in whole or in part, where a pricing error, technical malfunction, or breach of these Rules is identified. Confirmed winnings are credited to the customer’s account balance and are available for withdrawal subject to the verification requirements described elsewhere in these Terms.

Suspicious Activity and Match-Fixing

Winz monitors betting patterns to identify activity that may indicate match-fixing, collusion, or abuse of the platform. Accounts involved in suspicious betting activity may be suspended pending investigation, and related bets may be voided. Winz cooperates with sporting bodies and regulatory authorities where required by law.

Bookmaker Rights and Liability

Winz reserves the right to amend these Rules, suspend services, or adjust odds and stake limits at any time. Liability for losses arising from technical errors, connectivity issues, or events beyond reasonable control is limited to the extent permitted by New Zealand law. Continued use of the account following any amendment to these Rules constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

General Betting Rules

Stake Limits and Odds

Minimum and maximum stake limits apply to all betting markets and may vary by event, market type, or customer account. Odds displayed at the time of bet placement reflect current market conditions and may change without notice prior to confirmation. Once a bet has been accepted and confirmed, the stake and odds are final and cannot be altered by the customer.

Bet Acceptance and Settlement

A bet is considered valid only once confirmation has been issued by the platform. Settlement is based on official results provided by recognised data sources or governing sporting bodies. Where a discrepancy exists between the displayed outcome and the official result, the official result takes precedence.

Void Bets and Event Postponements

Bets may be declared void where a pricing error occurred, where a market was offered on an outcome already known at the time of placement, where technical issues affected the display of odds or markets, or where a violation of these Rules is identified. If an event is postponed, abandoned, or rescheduled beyond the original start time, bets placed on that event are voided and stakes are returned, unless the specific market rules state otherwise.

Winnings Calculation

Winnings are calculated by multiplying the stake by the confirmed odds at the time the bet was accepted. Any applicable deductions, such as those required by tax law or platform policy, are applied prior to crediting the customer’s account.

Cash Out and Auto Cash Out

Cash Out allows a customer to settle a bet before the event concludes, at a value determined by Winz based on current market conditions. Auto Cash Out allows a customer to set a predetermined value at which a bet is automatically settled. Availability, timing, and pricing of Cash Out and Auto Cash Out features are determined solely by Winz and may be withdrawn or restricted at any time without notice.

Bookmaker Rights

Winz reserves the right to suspend betting on any market, adjust stake limits, or correct pricing errors at its discretion. All decisions relating to bet settlement, void bets, and Cash Out valuation are final, subject to the dispute resolution procedures described in these Rules.

Accounts, Deposits and Withdrawals

This section describes the rules governing registration, account security, and the handling of deposits and withdrawals.

Registration and Duplicate Accounts

Each customer may hold only one account with Winz. Registration requires accurate and complete personal information, including full name, date of birth, and contact details. Duplicate accounts, or accounts registered using false information, may be closed, and any related bonuses or winnings may be voided.

Identity Verification

Winz applies identity verification (KYC) procedures in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements. Customers may be required to submit proof of identity, proof of address, and payment method verification before withdrawals are processed. Winz reserves the right to request additional documentation at any stage of the account relationship.

Account Security and Prohibited Activities

Customers are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their login credentials. Any activity conducted through a customer account is considered to have been carried out by the account holder. Use of the platform for fraud, collusion, bonus abuse, or any activity that violates these Terms is prohibited and may result in account suspension or closure.

Suspension, Closure, and Investigations

Winz may suspend or close an account, withhold withdrawals, or void bets where fraud, duplicate registration, misuse of promotions, suspicious betting patterns, or false information is identified. During an investigation, affected funds may be held pending the outcome, and Winz reserves the right to request further verification before releasing any funds.

Deposits and Withdrawals

Deposits and withdrawals must be made using payment methods registered in the customer’s name. Winz reserves the right to set minimum and maximum limits on deposits and withdrawals and may decline a transaction that does not meet verification requirements. Processing times vary depending on the payment method used and the outcome of any required checks.

Responsible Gambling

Winz supports responsible gambling practices and provides tools to help customers manage their betting activity.

Control Tools

  • Deposit and betting limits, allowing customers to restrict the amount wagered over a chosen period;
  • Voluntary exclusion options, allowing customers to pause account access for a defined or indefinite period;
  • Tools for assessing personal gambling behaviour, allowing customers to identify early signs of risk.

Support Resources

Customers experiencing difficulty controlling their gambling behaviour are encouraged to contact the Gambling Helpline New Zealand, which provides free and confidential support. Further information on problem gambling and available assistance is published by the Ministry of Health and the Health Promotion Agency. Customers under the legal gambling age are not allowed to register or hold an account.

Anti-Money Laundering

Winz applies measures against money laundering (AML) and the financing of terrorism, in accordance with applicable regulatory standards.

Verification and Monitoring

Customer identity is verified through KYC procedures before withdrawals are processed. Transactions are monitored on an ongoing basis to detect patterns consistent with money laundering, structuring, or other financial crime. Winz reserves the right to request source of funds documentation where transaction activity raises concern.

Consequences of Rule Violations

Accounts identified as involved in suspicious financial activity may be restricted, and affected funds may be frozen pending investigation. Winz reports suspicious activity to the relevant authorities where required by law, and may permanently block an account found to be in breach of these AML obligations.

Privacy & Management of Personal Data

Winz collects and processes personal data necessary to provide betting and gaming services, verify customer identity, and comply with legal obligations.

Collection and Use of Data

Personal data collected includes registration details, identity documents, payment information, and account activity. This data is used for account management, identity verification, fraud prevention, regulatory reporting, and communication regarding account status.

Storage, Protection, and Sharing

Personal data is stored securely and retained only for the period required by applicable law or operational necessity. Data may be shared with payment providers, verification services, and regulatory authorities where required. International transfer of data occurs only where adequate protection measures are in place.

Customer Rights and Consent

Registration requires the customer’s consent to the collection and processing of personal data as described in this section. Customers have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of their personal data, subject to legal retention requirements. Cookies are used to support account functionality and platform performance, and customers may manage cookie preferences through their browser settings.

Marketing Communications

Customers may opt in or out of marketing communications at any time through account settings. Payment processing data is handled in accordance with applicable financial regulations and is not used for purposes beyond transaction completion and verification.

Security

Winz applies technical and organisational measures to protect customer data and account information.

Data Protection Measures

Data transmitted between the customer’s device and the platform is encrypted using industry standard protocols. Servers are hosted in secure environments protected by firewall systems and access controls designed to prevent unauthorised entry.

Third Party Providers

Payment processors and verification partners engaged by Winz are required to maintain their own security standards consistent with applicable regulations. Winz reviews these arrangements periodically to confirm continued compliance.

Customer Responsibility

No method of data transmission over the internet is completely free of risk. Customers are responsible for keeping their login credentials confidential and for using secure networks when accessing their account. Winz recommends avoiding public or unsecured networks when entering payment or personal information.
